The Game of Life and Death

It all happened so fast. I was running through a dark alleyway running away from this gang who I owned $250 000 through gambling debt. My 10 days to pay them back was up. So they wanted to kill me. It all started at the end of the ten days. I went to the local church to use a room to pray about me not dying. When I got to the church I went into a little private room. The room was dark with one window at the back which let in the only light in the room. I stepped in the room. The room was very dark and dusty. I walked over to the cross on the wall and knelt down and started to pray. I prayed that I wouldn't die and that they wouldn't kill my family and friends. When I finished my praying I left the little room and church and stepped outside. It was quite a humid day with not a cloud in the sky. I walked over to the McDonalds to get something to eat. But then I saw them. I saw them through the windows of the McDonalds. It was the gang. I slowly backed away and tried to walk away as if a wasn’t there but I was too late. One of them recognised me and yelled out to the other members of the gang to run after me. As soon as I heard that I bolted for my live. I had never run so fast in my life. All these mixed emotions were running through my head worry, anger, sadness but most of all I was scared, really scared. I was only 24 I didn't want to die so young and I didn't want to die like this. I didn't even know where I was going but all knew is that I to run fast. I sharply veered left into a alleyway. That was the stupidest thing I could do. That mistake cost me my life. I ran and ran until I reached a dead end. The dead end had a 5 metre wall that was all smooth cinderblock. I turned around and the last thing I saw was the leader of the gang point the pistol and my head and then pull the trigger.

Always remember the little things...

I hate my life. Now some of you are probably wondering, why? ‘Why do you hate your life?’ You should enjoy life, because after all you only get one shot at it.’ But if you were in my shoes you would hate your life as well. It started 2 weeks ago on a Tuesday. I decided to take the day of work because we didn’t have any business. The main reason why I took the day of is because I wanted to drive my brand spanking new Cherry Red Alfa Romeo. This beautiful car had airbags, racing bucket seats, air con, TV on every seat, 20 inch Chrome wheels and best of all, a V8 engine. So anyway  I left home in my new car and when to the highway built the mountains. The highway had a beautiful smooth road and I was the only one on it. Because of that I was going at 200 km/h when the speed limit was 150 but I thought it was alright because the police never came up to the mountain highway. I was wrong...When I was driving in the distance I heard a siren and when I looked at the rear view mirror I saw that a police was following me and calling me to pull over. So I stopped the engine and hopped out of the car. 'Are you aware that you are speeding nearly 50km/h over the speed limit?' Said the officer ' Yes I am, very so... OH MY GOD MY CAR, I FORGOT TO PUT ON THE HANDBRAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!' I started running as fast as I could after my car but I was too late. It rammed straight over the barrier and fell off the mountain face and into the river below. My pride, my joy ruined. Also $100000 down the drain. 'Guess you should always put on the handbrake when you’re on a mountain.' said the officer handing me the $250 ticket 'By the way you still get a fine for speeding'  So with that the officer got in his car and drove away leaving me on the mountain, sobbing in my knees..

Learning about Authors

1. Yes they have the authors have put very colourful and interesting designs in their blog to make it look appealing to different audiences.

2. After some research about these authors, I found out that these authors have nothing in common, in face the only similarities they have is that they were all born in Australia.

3. The two authors I researched were LM Fuge and James Roy. I found out that they think about things that they see on TV or stuff they have been influenced by when they were around walking around. Both these authors write for adults and elderly.

4. http://www.lovereading.co.uk/author/3201/Gina-Blaxill.html

Here is my author’s website. She is a woman and grew up in London. Gina always wanted to be a author all her life. Her favourite teen authors include Temora Pierce, Kevin Brooks, Jenny Valentine and Karen David, though her absolute favourite author is, Agatha Christie.

The Design of the Novel's cover

1. The items that appealed to the front cover of the book 'Pretty Twisted' was the fonts and colours in the titles and subtitles. Also the picture on the front of the book was appealing also because it was of a girl hiding from something or one.

2. The colour of the cover originally appealed to me because of the colour of the cover which was pink. This appealed to me I don't see pink on many cover on books. I was won over about the cover because it had features that I don't really see on books.

3. Elements that make a good front cover of a book are the pictures, titles, font, colours and the subtitles. What make a unappealing front cover is lots of words and little pictures and things that make a front cover look boring.

4. Yes, that has happened to me plenty and plenty times before. It happened with one book called 'Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters'. It had a awesome cover with heaps of Gods and all these fiction characters. It also had all these cool fonts. When to read this book it turned out to be absolutely rubbish.

5. The book I got from the person sitting next to me is called 'Desert Crossing'. At first glance I presumed that it was going to be about a dessert and people finding someone dead. This was because the colours of the cover. Most of it in black and white and grey witch are mourning colours. The element of the cover that appeals to me is that the cover is of the face with sunglasses on. The face is in black and white but the glasses have roads on them. I think this is very effective feature that was very noticeable in the cover.

Electronic Literature

1. Yes it does. Its looks cool, interesting, and good read and have.

2. All the features like the camera and the photo editing program would be appealing for kids

3. After a while it would hurt your eyes and neck and starting at it and slouching over to see the screen. Also they are more spelling mistake on the internet than a proper book.

4. Well with both devices you are reading no matter what you are reading on, you are still reading either way

5. I have come across reading on a computer, IPad, IPod and a phone

6. I prefer reading an old fashion book than reading something on the internet but if I had to read on the internet it wouldn’t bother me.

Think about your reading experiences

1. My favourite place to read is on my blue beanbag in my room. I find it very comfortable and relaxing.

2. Yes in the evening about 4-6 o'clock

3. Yes I like Paul Jennings because all of his books are so funny and entertaining. For me if a book isn’t entertaining I just put it down and read something His style of book is very un-serious and funny and that’s what I like about him and why I have loved every single one of his books.

4. The Librarian, Mrs Buckley recommends books for me to read and sometimes my sister tells me about books she reads that I should try. I only share the same taste of books with my sister. People who have shares books with me are Mrs Buckley, Mum and my sister. They recommend to me Paul Jennings , Andy Griffiths and Morris Gleitzman. They told me that I should try that book because it was really funny and entertaining and that said that I would enjoy it.

5. Yes, I found that Andy Griffiths and Paul Jennings style is very alike. After some research I found out that they have nothing in common with each other. It turns out that Morris is 20 years older than Paul.

The Blurb on the back cover

1. Yes I did. The blurb made the book sound very exciting and interesting.

2. The parts in the blurb that sounded interesting were 'Now Jono's beautiful ex-girlfriend has disappeared without a trace' and ' So Ros agrees to help him search for her but is hiding a secret of her own' and 'Two different stories, One missing girl, Who would you trust?'

3. When I first saw my book, I thought it was a girl’s book because it was pink and I was in a bit of doubt with it. But with a bit of convincing  (Thanks Mrs Buckley!) I got it. The blurb at the back did cover all the main events that happens in the book and gave a good overall experience of the book.

4. Some aspects of the blurb the appealed the most is that the main words like missing and unknown were highlighted in a different colour and font and it made the blurb look more interesting

5. Jonathan is in a very twisted situation. His ex-girlfriend dumped him and the next day she missing. Now the police are blaming it on him and his friend Ros who he meet online. It is up to Jonathon and Ros to find Freya and her kidnapper. Let’s just say for the record, things are going to get Pretty Twisted!

What's in a title?

1. I think is the title is the most important part of trying to sell a book. If the title is boring and undescriptive, everyone will think it’s boring and people walk straight pass the book . For example if you had a book called the Caterpillar, it wouldn’t really appeal to anyone but if you put a verb in there and called it The Very Hungry Caterpillar, people will be much more interested in it because it is more exciting than just the caterpillar. The title captures the feel of the book and what it is going to be like. For example Pretty Twisted is a Mystery novel. From the title you can sense that things get twisted and out of control.

2. Two alternate titles that the author could of gone with but didn’t is 'The Mystery of London' and 'The Kidnapper'.

3. My book couldn’t be in a series because the girl when missing and then then found her again so it covered the whole storyline in one book. But if there was a sequel it should be called 'Pretty Twisted , Freya's Story' Freya was the person who got kidnapped so it would be to see what happened when she was missing and what she did to survive. Another sequel could be called 'Pretty Twisted, Why Kidnappers kidnap' It would be about Freya's kidnapper, Hugh and why he kidnapped Freya and about what was going through his head the whole time when Rosalind was over and during he had Freya kidnapped and when everyone was looking for her.
